Digging in my poetry files today I found these three that were originally written separately. Today they each in turn asked to be combined with the others. I think it works; do you?
~*~*~*~
She struggled
with how
she wanted to be
endlessly understanding
unconditionally devoted
but doubted how long
the lofty ideal
could be sustained
for as a Pagan
she could be no saint
~*~
In this moment
she felt merely blank
Blank was an absence
of frustration and sorrow
Blank was a dearth of
anxious yearning
Blank was resistance
to disappointment
Blank signaled
she was winning
the struggle
Blank was good
~*~
Knowing what she
needed to do
Knowing she’d be
happier afterwards
Knowing this was
the best time to do it
didn’t make it
any easier
This was what the Goddess
made cake and wine for
Her heart heavy
she smiled to herself
with sad eyes
