They started again with the Jews

and we didn't speak out because

we thought christian nationalism was in the past

Then they came for the minority voters

and we didn't speak out because

we thought the states would protect them

Then they came for the pro-choicers

and we didn't speak out because

we thought SCOTUS would uphold precedent

Then they came for the LGBTQ+ folk and drag queens

and we didn't speak out because

we thought society was beyond the fear-mongering

Then they came for science, educators, and books

and we didn't speak out because

we thought it was only Florida and Texas at first

Be warned, for when they come for us

and they will, there will be no one left to care

about freedom, democracy, justice, or us
